Lead...Don't Follow

I love going into the woods behind my house for some quiet and peace. I love the sounds of nature and looking at how beautiful nature can be.

I have been very excited to see spring popping up and color being injected back into the landscape.

I posted this picture below, on my family blog last fall. I caught one leaf break out from the crowd and start to change color.

For days it was this solitary leaf that stood alone in all it's bright orange glory.

I was impressed and intrigued by it. It was the leader of the pack and it inspired me in a lot of ways last year.

I was astounded when I walked out in the woods a few days ago and out of the corner of my eye was a pink blur. I had caught another leader!!

One little pink blossom in a sea of brown "blah" was popping through.

I think there is a lesson that still that I have not learned. Maybe a lesson for all of us.

I try and apply it with my desires as an artist. I need to lead, not follow, to have courage to do what I want and not be afraid to stand out.

AND - be proud of who I am. Embrace the things that make me unique and love them.

A good lesson we all could use don't you think?

I love your thoughts on the leaders in nature! You have an artist's mind; that is clear.

Love the pics too. Isn't it so fun to try to capture nature that way? It feels so artistic in that we get to capture what expresses our feelings and emotions. Anyway, you did a fabulous job!

Thank you Alyson!!! You always make me feel so good about myself ;)

I love photography. I wish that I was more skilled and knew more about all the lenses and apertures and all that techy stuff, but it makes me very happy to try and capture what is beautiful to me. I get an honest to goodness buzz..lol.

Loved your pictures with the analogy! The color of the sky as the backdrop to the branches in the first pic are amazing!

April- thanks!! It is a picture I am going to frame. I Love it.
I'm glad you liked the analogy. Sometimes my mind is a little silly and I am glad others "get" what I am thinking. :)

I LOVE the pictures and what you had to say about them! I loved your "winter thoughts" and now these! I think you're following your own advice more these last few weeks, than the months that I have known you! It's so fun to see you break out of your shell!!!!! Friday night was the best though!(your face.....not a virgin anymore!)
