Is for these delicious blueberries we picked this week. What a blast! If you have the chance to pick produce at local farms, I highly recommend it.
The prices are phenomenal and the the fact that it is fresh that day, puts the icing on the cake.
You can't beat the experience either.

We picked our berries but just bought some fresh peaches, lemons, and corn picked that morning.
The blueberries were $13 a gallon!!! So wonderfully cheap.

This was the bounty my little Chloe picked. She had fun getting all sorts of berries and the farm owner just let us have her bucket of goodness.
That night this is what I made with it. A berry crumble.
I can't tell you how delicious and simple it was.
OK- I can tell you.
Put the berries in a dish, add 1/4 cup of sugar.
The secret ingredient you HAVE to add is a bit of lemon zest. It completely changes the depth of the flavor.
For the topping, put 1/2 a stick of butter, 1/8 of a cup of sugar and 1 cup of flour into a food processor and blend up. Pour it on top in the middle and cook it for 20mins at 375 degrees.
Told you it was simple.
We love blueberries in this house. We make smoothies, blueberry pancakes, you name it. I'll throw these healthy little gems in it.
If you want to preserve them for use throughout the year, it is very simple. Lay them on a tray after rinsing & sorting out the bad or mushed ones. Let them dry and then pop them in the freezer. They won't clump together that way. Once frozen you can put them in freezer bags all together, or put them in individual baggies to easily pull out for use.
Label them and use them as you need them.
Voila!
Blueberries for months.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend!!
